YMCA POOL MURAL
The Wang YMCA located in Boston, Massachusetts requested a mural design for their indoor pool. The pool, which is also shared with the Double Tree, wanted an updated look that was low on cost. They felt that paiting a mural on the pools plain white walls would give the area a fresh new feeling. My design for them was inpired by the artwork of Sol Lewitt. Keeping in mind his use of geometric patterns and bright colros I create a different pattern on each wall surrounding the pool. The patterns are all created from rectangles, evoking the feeling of movement while also representing the shape of the letter "Y". Using the YMCA new logo and color palette I create a rainbow of different options to be places on each wall. The design could easily be enjoyed by any gender or age and the design is simple enough to stay current over a long period of time.
